Predictions

This is where I will keep track of all the things I thought would one day happen.  If I have blogged about the topic, I will link to the post.

For now I will keep just a list of items, and then as I learn more about how to work adding in a new page (and hopefully post entries within the page) I will clean it up.  The format will stay fairly consistent: Prediction, Time of Prediction, Outcome

1) Blockbuster will go out of Business or be significantly changed (i.e. not fueled by sales of DVD’s) by 2013

Time: Predicted 11/08 (blog entry)

Outcome: Pending

2) The Bruins will have the most success of Boston’s four major sports teams over the next five years

Time: Predicted 11/08 (log entry)

Outcome: Pending

3) USC will crush Penn State in the 2009 Rose Bowl.  USC is favored by 9 and will cover.

Paterno v. Carroll does not seem a fair matchup (favor USC) and the Trojans still have all the talent they’ve had since the start of the season when they were the preseason #1.

Time: Predicted before Rose Bowl 1/1/09

Outcome: Correct, USC 38 -24

4) Carolina is favored by 10 over Arizona.  Too many things stack up against AZ to have them come even close:

weather, Carolina is rested, AZ is content with a home playoff win and low expectations, travel to the east coast, Boldin is out, AZ cannot stop the run and Carolina has a great RB, Carolina loves to throw long and that is another weakness for AZ.

I think Carolina covers (easily).

Time: Predicted on 1/9/09 (game 1/10/09)

Outcome: Incorrect,  AZ 33-13

Can we have more short term predictions and less that we will have to come to this site in 2013 and then hash out what blockbuster really is selling to make money.

    My prediction is Pain!

Looking good for #1 (at least if you count switching to robot/kiosks instead of stores)– http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2010/02/23/video_rental_stores_fading_to_black/?page=1
